Here is a Pinocchio story that is NOT Disney.

It is child appropriate but also very illuminating for adults too.

The back-story is that Alexei Tolstoy wanted to translate the Pinocchio story to Russian but, well, he ended up making something quite different that spoke to the people of the Bolshevik run country of the time.

Sadly, it is something that speaks to the Western peoples of today too. The West has been infected with something.

This is a tale of a spirited young creature Buratino/Pinocchio that navigates that world.

From my impression, the characters are much more Punch and Judy like in their freedom to act on instinct, good or bad – makes for good fun, makes you ponder, and you decide what is moral and what is not.
