A very personal interview with a genuine Inuit woman in Canada. Some commenters note that she looks much like a Lap in Finland too, I’d expect that too.
There is lots to consider here, makes me think about what true reconciliation looks like. For instance, in growing up, common southerners are lead to believe, we are ‘educating the savages’ (speaking frankly here in the parlance of the time). Well, in fact, ‘we’ were domesticating them, this is true. But what is ‘domesticating’? It somehow involves losing agency doesn’t it?
So, there is some reconciliation possible here in opening our minds and learning on an evidence basis of what we see before us without prejudice. It is nice touch in her experience how her son was involved in breaking her out of the hypnosis she was in.
