He searches out the alternatives in a hard science directed way, makes some choices, gets extra tests (thanks to connections) to verify the choice, and talks about progress.

Yes, his pancreatic cancer is in remission. Also note, with the extra tests he’d gotten, he discovers he was without symptoms but still at high risk of heart attack – that gets fixed too. This is a person that thought he was healthy his whole life.
